About me
From a young age I was often creative. Painting, drawing and working with all kinds of materials. I also changed my bedroom regularly. A different color on the wall, a different layout, new decoration. I like to work on layouts of homes and combining colors. So I quickly knew that I wanted to do an interior design course at the Cibap college. During my time at the Cibap college I really enjoyed it, I gained depth in my creativity. I have often done this with existing furniture, but I also thought it would be fun to design it myself. This is because you have great freedom in creating a design and can do more with the space.
At the Cibap college I gained knowledge about interiors, but not about the buildings themselves. I missed this because when I want to make designs for a room, it also happens that you first want to change the room (for example, remove a wall). But what if it is a load-bearing wall? So I wanted to have more knowledge about buildings/spaces. With this knowledge I know what I can and cannot adapt to a space. Learning what a piece of furniture does to the space and vice versa. That is why I started studying interior design at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle. This course is aimed at designing spaces and furniture yourself. It is a two-year Associate Degree course. This prepares you for the business world. The conceptual approach is strongly emphasized within this course. A lot of research and experimentation is important before a design is made.
After working as an interior designer for 7 years, I have discovered that painting and drawing are also big passions of mine. I was already selling drawings on the free market at the age of 12. I have had an exhibition of my paintings a few times and also sold something every now and then. I always thought I could never make a living from this and I didn’t give it the attention it needed. I feel more and more that I want to get back to painting, preferably every day. So the combination of interior design and art are perfect for me!
